We take privacy seriously in Funexpected, and we know you care about how your personal information is used. If you are a teacher or parent whose child uses Funexpected Math for Schools, please read the following policy to learn more about the data we collect and how we use it.
By using the Funexpected Math for Schools website or mobile application (such as are available via the App Store and Google Play Store) affiliated with Funexpected Math for Schools and any related services and/or features (collectively, the "Schools Program"), you acknowledge that you accept the practices and policies outlined in this Schools Program Privacy Statement.
The Funexpected Math for Schools is only available to educators, schools, school districts and other K-12 education institution users (collectively referred to as "Schools") to use with students for K-12 educational purposes.
What does The Funexpected Math for School Privacy Policy cover?
The Funexpected Math for School Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect personally identifieable information ("Personal information") when you access the Funexpected Math for Schools program.
That includes the information we collect about students ("Student data").

Only teachers and school representatives can create student accounts
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide the best educational service
We are designed to comply with applicable children and student privacy laws
Schools have control over Student data
We do not use Student Data for targeted advertising or marketing purposes.
We will never sell or rent Student Data to third parties unless the sale is part of a corporate transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other sale of assets.
Information that we collect
To use the Funexpected Math for Schools product, you must create a teacher account using your School email address or a third-party authentification service that is integrated with the Schools Program . By creating the account you represent that you are authorized to permit Funexpected to access, collect, transmit, display, maintain and disclose Student data for the purpose of providing the service.
Information we collect about teachers, educators, and Schools:
We collect the information you voluntarily submit to the Funexpected Math for School program, including first and last name, work email and password, name of your school, profession, district, and state.
Information about students:
Students cannot create accounts, but they can be added to the class by their teacher or school. Teachers submit the following information about the students in the classroom: first and last names, ages as months and years of birth. At their own discretion, teachers can choose to create nicknames for the students instead of submitting their full names.
Schools can also choose to roster the classroom through third-party services integration such as Apple Roster API. In this case, Funexpectedreceives personal information associated with this authentication service. In case, we receive additional information that is not required for use of the Funexpected Math for Schoolsfrom such authentification service(such as a Student's full name), we will treat it as Student Data.
By using a third-party authentication service and/or permitting your students to use such a service to create Funexpected Math accounts, you give us permission to collect and store information the authentication service provides to us. You may change the information the authentication service shares with us and/or revoke access at any time by adjusting your settings with the authentication service.
Usage information
When user access Funexpected Math for Schools program we automatically collect information relating to how you interact with the program. It can include how much time students are spending on various tasks, how they interact with various parts of the app, whether they use hints, etc. That helps us to evaluate the learning experience and to adjust the difficulty.
Device information
In addition, we and our third-party service providers automatically collect some information about a user's device ("Log information"). Log information may include device type, operating system and its version, IP address, browser type, etc.
We collect this data to understand the usage of the program, to provide support and assistance for using the services, and to eliminate technical problems with the program.
Information about parents
Funexpected can collect information about students parent or guardian, such as full name and their email only if the teacher, school or the parent/guardian themselves provide us with such an information. In that case, we associate it with student's information. The parent also has the opportunity to create a Family Funexpected Math account, in that case we could receive additional information about them. Family accounts are governed by our standard Privacy Policy.
How we use the information
All the information will be used primarily to provide the services of Funexpected Math for Schools and to improve the Funexpected Math for Schools program. Specifically, these are some of the cases in which we may use the information:
To diagnose problems, troubleshoot issues and provide support
To improve the program, create new features and content
To personalize learning paths and adjust the difficulty of content
To personalize user experience, such as showing the user's name or nickname
To permit teachers to view statistics on class performance, monitor student's results, etc
We may use teacher's or parent's information for communicating with them for marketing purposes, but only if their information was submitted to us voluntarily
Will Funexpected share any personal information that it receives?
To the limited extent we collect Personal Information – we neither rent nor sell your Personal Information to anyone. We share your Personal Information only as described below.
Student data may be shared among authorized school users.
If the Parent of the student decides to create a family account, then the data of the student and their progress will be shared with the student's parent.
We share information within the program in accordance with the functionality of the service. For example, teachers can see the nicknames (or names) and avatars of students in the class.
We employ other companies and people to perform tasks on our behalf. Your information may be accessed by such providers/agents in the event that we need to share your information with them to provide our services or customer support to you. Unless we tell you differently, Funexpected's agents do not have any right to use Personal Information we share with them beyond what is necessary to assist us.
In some cases, we may choose to buy or sell assets. In these types of transactions, customer information is typically one of the business assets that are transferred. Moreover, if Funexpected, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Funexpected goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, customer information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and that any acquirer of Funexpected may continue to use your Personal Information as set forth in this policy.
We may release Personal Information when we believe in good faith that release is necessary to comply with the law; enforce or apply our conditions of use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Funexpected, our employees, our users, or others.

We use industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to safeguard the account registration process and sign-up information. Access to Student Data is limited to the employees and contractors who require it to perform their job functions. However, no security system is immune—for that reason, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information or Student Data. If personal information under our control is compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will take reasonable steps to investigate the situation and take all steps required by applicable laws and regulations. If a security incident materially impacts the security or confidentiality of Student Data, we will promptly notify the teacher or school.
User data access
You may have the right to access, correct, and delete any of your personal information collected by Funexpected. If you would like to do it, please contact us at support@funexpected.org

When we provide the Funexpected Math for Schools product we operate as a service provider as that term is defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act and collect, retain, use and disclose Student Data only for or on behalf of our School customers for the purpose of providing the Services and for no other commercial purpose. If you have any questions or would like to exercise your California rights, please contact your School directly.

Funexpected may amend this Funexpected Math for Schools Privacy Policy from time to time. Use of information we collect now is subject to the Funexpected Math for Schools Privacy Policy in effect at the time such information is used.
